ding to preliminary year-end results, the leading ECM provider d.velop generated a turnover of more than 34 million euros in 2010, marking one of the best business results in the history of the d.velop Group. The operating result (EBIT) of the software vendor also exceeded the previous year’s figures by a wide margin. The reason for this is a strong increase in customer numbers, up by about 18 percent, as well as 25% higher software profits at d.velop AG alone. Both product lines, d.3 and ecspand – the ECM expansion for Microsoft SharePoint – equally benefited from the positive development in 2010, allowing the software house to further strengthen its leading position in the European enterprise content management market.
“Even in 2009, the year most strongly affected by the world economic crisis, we experienced a very dynamic business development despite the general downward trend exhibited in all sectors, including the IT market. In 2010 we were able to continue to build on this success,” says Christoph Pliete, CEO of d.velop AG, in reference to the impressive business results. “Gaining more than 400 new customers in the European ECM market is a feat that won’t be topped by another company any time soon,” remarks Pliete with pride. Thanks to this influx, the number of customers employing d.velop software solutions has grown to over 2,700 by the end of 2010.
According to Pliete, this unusually strong expansion of the customer base is m
ainly owing to the sustained market acceptance of the d.3 product version and the ecspand solution. Last year, a completely new software concept was introduced for d.3, which is based on a consistent philosophy of easy usability. The solution affords users with access to all functions with a minimum number of clicks and simultaneously reduces the implementation effort by approximately 30 percent. The new technology approach also helps to lower operating costs as it reduces the manual task load of administrators. “We are the first ECM provider to meet the growing need of companies for simplicity,” says Pliete in explanation of the spectacular success in the previous business year.
While over 345 new customers implemented d.3 in the previous year, ecspand was introduced in 60 companies. “Considering that we really just got started with ecspand in early 2010, this is an amazing development,” continues a highly satisfied Pliete. ecspand addresses the group of Microsoft SharePoint users who, among other things, want to turn their SharePoint into a full-blown ECM system to keep stride with ever-growing compliance requirements.
